The leaders of the opposition to the government are meeting in Mogadishu for the second day, and today they are holding a special meeting with the heads of the media operating in the capital.
According to information we have, the opposition is discussing with the media leaders issues related to the country’s general policy, security and elections, and the reporting style of the independent media.
Former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed shared with the directors of the media in Mogadishu how sad he is about the recent abuses by the executive branch of the Federal Government.
Sheikh Sharif also said that an independent media is important for a well-ordered society that is free to express their feelings about the good government.
Similarly, MP Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, one of the most prominent members of the opposition to the government, said that on the second day of their meeting, they will hold consultations with various sectors of society.
“We discussed with the media the situation in the country and how to find a solution to the political disagreements regarding the transition situation.” said Abdirahman Abdishakur.
