Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has described the conference held last night in Mogadishu by the Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP), led by Somali presidential candidate Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, as a mistake.
President Deni said the plan to establish the party is a political organization that is misleading the Somali people and weakening the unity and solidarity of the nation.
Deni called on the Somali people and politicians to open their eyes and speak out about what he called the current threat facing the country.
The Puntland President said that the Federal Government is not sincere in moving away from the 4.5 system. He cited the process based on the senior leadership of the JSP party as an example, saying that it reflects the further expansion of the power-sharing system.
“The National Consultative Councils have changed into the Justice and Unity parties. If there was justice, would the cemeteries be bought? What will the justice they speak of be? Where is the unity they talked about, the country has already been torn apart. Will the council that wants to destroy Jubbaland bring unity?” said President Deni.
President Deni added that the path the Federal Government is taking is a closed road, noting that genuine reconciliation among Somalis is needed.
