Somalia’s armed forces court has decided on the case of a couple belonging to the Al-Shabaab group who appeared in court in recent days.
The military court has released Hafso Mohamed Macalin who was arrested recently on her way to Eelbur district where her husband Abshir Adan Mohamed was.
The couple’s release came after Abshir Adan Mohamed saw that his wife was in the military court, which led him to decide to leave Al-Shabaab and surrender to the government.
Abshir Adan Mohamed, who was surrounded by MPs and ministers of the Somali government, said he was happy with the decision of the court and sent a message to his friends in the Al-Shabaab group.
“I am happy that the court honored me and my wife and gave us freedom. I thank the people who participated. The government has welcomed us well, I say that the people who have had issues with us should take advantage of this opportunity,” said Abshir Adan Mohamed.
The court of armed forces of Somalia announced after the release of the couple that it supports their marriage which is currently being planned, and in the same way, the ministers and parliamentarians who were in the military court supported the marriage of the couple, who handed over money to the couple to complete their marriage.
“Abshir is a young man, he was misled, but now he has seen that there is a government now,” said Minister of Defense Omar Ali Abdi.
Finally, the couple’s case is one of the surprising cases brought before the Military Court, and this case has been the subject of much discussion on social media in recent days.
