The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today held a meeting with the President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh.
The meeting between the two Presidents was attended by senior officials from the two governments, and the two sides discussed strengthening the deep relationship between the two countries of Somalia and Djibouti.
The two sides also discussed the general situation in the region and how to further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries and the brotherhood of the two peoples of Somalia and Djibouti.
Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh said that the government and the people of Djibouti continue to support and stand by the government of Somalia, showing their efforts for the peace, security and stability of the country.
President Hassan Sheikh has indicated that Somalia has today reached the end of the African Union peacekeeping operation ATMIS, and that a temporary operation will begin, which will be called AUSOM.
The President of Somalia also mentioned that the plan is that the Somali armed forces will soon take over the overall security of the country, and he thanked the government and the people of Djibouti for their brotherly support to the government and the Somali people.
