Some of the officials of the opposition who are against the federal government of Somalia have issued joint papers in which they discuss the general situation in the country and the issues of the elections.

This press release which was issued jointly by the former President of Somalia Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, the former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre and MP Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame clearly opposed the recently appointed National Election Commission.

These officials said in their writing that they are completely against the newly appointed committee, and they are announcing their views against the international community’s election committee.

“President Hassan took over the country while the country has a consensus constitution, electoral code, political parties, and electoral commission. He changed the constitution of the country, he made electoral and party rules, he appointed electoral commissions that were all aligned with his personal wishes,” said the press release from the opposition officials.

The journalists also warned the Somali people about the dangers surrounding the rules of the elections, the parties and the committee appointed by the president and pointed out that they are based on the constitution that has been changed illegally.

“We are informing the Somali people, other political stakeholders and friends who are interested in the affairs of Somalia that we have boycotted the committee, the electoral rules and the party rules, and we are warning them not to be deceived,” said the press release issued by the opposition officials.
