The Sultan General of Somaliland, Sultan Daoud Sultan Mohamed Sultan Abdiqadir, said that he escaped being killed yesterday after being shot by a soldier.
The Sultan said in an interview given by MMTV that there was an attempt to kill him, and that the soldiers used bullets after a protest against the arrest of Osman Omar Dool, a member of the Waddani party, which he was a part of.
“Today, the country wanted chaos, protests, riots and killings. A soldier was being arrested for a soldier. Ibrahin Aydeed is ruling this place and the President is ruling our logic,” said the Sultan.
He called on the youth to maintain peace saying that the government intended to declare war and cause problems, but he is taking the peace.
The mayor of Hargeisa Abdikarin Ahmed Mooge said that one of the security guards of the Igal airport shot at the protesters, saying that the law will be taken against the policeman.
Ibrahin Ayid, who is accused by the sultan of arresting Dol, has distanced himself from the accusation, saying that he had nothing to do with his arrest. Aidid is a social media person who supports the government.
Dool was arrested at the airport yesterday when he came from abroad, and supporters who went to Igal airport to welcome him and the sultan were there protested. Dool is still arrested.
