The regional government of Puntland has ruled out the threat of an increase in the presence of Daesh in its areas.
Officials from Puntland’s security agencies who spoke to HOL media said that there is no security threat from Daesh in Puntland at the moment, although they said that Daesh is in some parts of the Bari region.
These officials refused to confirm the news that the top leader of Daesh is in the eastern region of Puntland, according to American officials.
The American officials said that the leader of Daesh sought refuge in Puntland, to escape the target of the American government.
The statement of Puntland security officials comes as some of the businesses in Bosaso town are closed due to an order issued by the Daesh group, who want them to pay what they call taxes or Sako.
Daesh has already burned business centers in Bosaso. The Puntland administration has not yet succeeded in addressing these issues.
