The United States government has suspended the food it was giving to the Danab commandos, after corruption was revealed regarding the purchase of food aid and fuel given to the Danab forces.

The decision to suspend the Danab ration was submitted to the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Defense and the Commander of the Armed Forces, Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuddin, who is in the US Embassy in Nairobi.

The suspension of aid is a major setback for Danab forces who have long relied on the support of the United States to carry out operations against Al-Shabaab.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense of Somalia has started an investigation after this action regarding the diversion of the rations of the Danab army of the country’s armed forces.

The Ministry of Defense said that the investigation it carried out has arrested officers accused of being involved in the corruption of food embezzlement of the Danab army.

The government said that it will share the results of the investigation with the stakeholders.
