The Federal Government of Somalia has begun deploying police and other security forces to key streets in Mogadishu to ensure security for the upcoming elections in Mogadishu.
These forces are intended to ensure security at election sites, especially on roads leading to polling stations and polling stations, as the final preparations for the elections are being made in the districts of the Banadir region.
This move follows a meeting held last night in Mogadishu between senior police officers and the Electoral Commission, which focused on plans to secure election sites and prevent insecurity.
The Banadir Regional Council elections are scheduled to take place on Thursday, the 25th of this month, in Mogadishu. The elections are not directly elected, meaning people vote for political parties and organizations.
According to the electoral commission, voters will choose from up to 20 political parties and organizations, all of which are participating in the local council elections in the districts of Banadir region.
Finally, the Somali government has already announced that some of the main roads in Mogadishu will be closed tomorrow, and that flights departing and arriving at Aden Adde Airport will also be temporarily suspended, as part of a plan to ensure security for the upcoming public elections in Mogadishu.
