The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, has officially inaugurated a large-scale electrification project that will provide electricity to 150 health facilities across the country, with the electricity service provided free of charge.
The Prime Minister said that the Somali people have long needed quality electricity services, especially in key health and education facilities. The project is part of the government’s efforts to develop economic infrastructure and basic services, noting that the electricity is green energy and environmentally friendly.
“The government has focused on ensuring that people have access to high-quality electricity and education,” said Prime Minister Hamsa, noting that the project will improve the quality of public services and provide people with the opportunity to purchase affordable electricity.
The Prime Minister also noted that electricity is the key to the development of public services, and therefore the Government is committed to expanding this project to reach all areas of the country.
This step is historic in terms of the state of public services in Somalia, and has been described as a major achievement that reflects the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the lives of the people. The green energy that has been implemented is also expected to lead to a sustainable energy future.
