The Jubbaland administration has made it clear that it has no interest in the decisions of the National Consultative Council meeting that concluded in Mogadishu.
Jubbaland Information Minister, Abdifitah Mohamed Mukhtaar, described the points of the meeting as not adding anything and not changing the situation in Jubbaland.
The National Consultative Council called last night for the Federal Ministry of Interior to issue a legal proposal to address the situation in Jubbaland, in order to achieve a state with full legitimacy.
This statement has sparked a strong reaction, with many politicians describing it as an attempt by the Federal Government to eliminate the Jubbaland administration and establish another replacement administration.
Member of the Somali Parliament, Abdiladif Sanyare, strongly criticized the Federal Government, accusing it of a political invasion of Jubbaland.
“The Jubbaland state government needs to be seriously prepared. An invasion is coming from the Federal Government, which has clearly deviated from the path of statehood, is a threat to the unity and solidarity of the country, and is trampling on the federal system,” said MP Sanyare.
Jubbaland has previously announced that it has withdrawn cooperation with the Federal Government, accusing it of operating like a private company limited to the Banadir Region.
Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madoobe), for his part, said that any decision made by the Federal Government will not have any impact on the existence of Jubbaland.
