Ahead of the 2025 Hajj, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has temporarily banned the issuance of visas to citizens from 14 countries, including: Iran, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Somalia, Congo, Libya and Sudan.

The move is part of efforts to enhance security and manage the number of people attending one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.

According to the new regulations, people from these countries will not be granted Umrah or visit visas during the Hajj season. In addition, citizens found to be overstaying their visas in Saudi Arabia face severe penalties including fines, imprisonment, and deportation.

Saudi Arabia has also strongly warned all visitors to abide by immigration laws, reminding that violations can be punishable by severe penalties.

The new regulations are part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to ensure the safety and order of this year’s Hajj.
