Somali Minister of Health Dr. Ali Haji Adam and other officials from the Ministry welcomed 15 Somali children who were born deaf and who have had their hearing restored after successful surgeries at Aden Abdulle Airport in Mogadishu.
The children, aged between 3 and 6 years, underwent medical surgery abroad, which came after a long effort by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the King Salman Foundation, which played a significant role in carrying out this national-level process.
The Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Ali Haji Aden, described this as a preliminary result of other measures to provide health opportunities to Somali citizens in need of health care, and the Minister thanked the King Salman Foundation for playing a key role in this process.
The Minister also said that each child who underwent this operation cost $25,000 and described it as an important opportunity for Somali parents whose children are living with deafness to take them to hospitals to be registered if such opportunities arise.
The Ministry of Health has recently been working to find solutions to the needs of the community, especially the most vulnerable such as children, women and the elderly, in order to ensure the overall goal of the Ministry, which is comprehensive healthcare that can be accessed anywhere and at any time in the country.
