This morning, a tense situation was felt between the Jiicboor and Saax Quran areas in the western Mudug region, where two clan militias from Puntland and Galmudug were fighting yesterday.
Yesterday’s fighting was reported to have killed more than 10 people on both sides, with many more injured.
Those injured in yesterday’s fighting between the two clan militias in the western Mudug region have been taken to towns in Galmudug and Puntland regions.
The latest reports from the areas where yesterday’s fighting took place indicate that the two sides are still fighting in the areas where they fought, and there are fears that the fighting will flare up again.
The fighting between the two clan militias is based on a dispute over who controls Jiicboor, which is currently a drought-stricken area and there is no apparent benefit to fighting.
The Galmudug and Puntland administrations are making joint efforts to end the renewed fighting between these two brotherly clans that live in the western Mudug region.
