The US embassy in Mogadishu has issued a security alert, warning of security threats regarding attacks targeting many places in Mogadishu, including the Aden Adde airport in the capital.
In response to this threat, the US Embassy in Somalia has suspended all embassy activities until further notice. Also, American citizens have been banned from traveling to Mogadishu.
The embassy said that terrorist groups are engaged in organizing explosions and attacks. She said that the security situation in Somalia is still chaotic.
After this warning, the security forces in Mogadishu were put on extra alert, with the security of the places where the warning is directed. This warning comes at a time when the Somali government and al-Shabaab are fighting in the Middle Shabelle region.
However, in the Middle Shabelle region near Mogadishu, heavy operations are underway where the government forces are fighting the Al-Shabaab group which has taken over some areas of the Middle Shabelle.
