The meeting that ended in Mogadishu was about the transition period of the ATMIS forces.

At a five-day conference in Mogadishu, the countries where the troops are stationed in Somalia, a statement was issued regarding the transition situation in the withdrawal of the ATMIS forces from Somalia.

The conference opened in Mogadishu on November 30 and closed on December 4, and was attended by the commanders of the African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia. of Somalia (ATMIS) which expires on 31 December 2024 and the new Somalia Support and Stabilization Mission (AUSSOM).

The meeting was closed by the Minister of Defense of Somalia, Abdulqadir Mohamed Nur, and was attended by the commanders of the Somali, Djibouti, Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, representatives of the African Union, the ATMIS mission, and the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS). From:-

1. Welcoming the new AUSSOM mission, stressing that the mission should take advantage of the lessons learned from ATMIS, to strengthen Somalia’s security.

2. The Federal Government of Somalia is commended for its efforts in cooperation and development of plans after the withdrawal of ATMIS.

3. The countries that have donated troops have confirmed that they are committed to supporting peace and building a government in Somalia.

4. The countries that participated in the meeting confirmed how they are standing by to protect the unity, independence, and borders of Somalia.

5. It is proposed to develop strategic, operational, and technical coordination mechanisms.

6. Governments have agreed on a plan to develop the strategic areas where AUSSOM will be located.

7. The international community is urged to continue to support the new AUSSOM mission with funds and equipment.

Finally, it was agreed to continue to support the plans and efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia for the development of national security.
