Today, some of the motorcycle riders who work in Mogadishu have protested in Mogadishu, and the administration of Banadir region has spoken strongly about it.
The Deputy Commissioner of Security of the Banadir regional administration, Ahmed Diriye Yabooh, has warned that there will be another demonstration in Mogadishu similar to the one today, which is illegal and unknown to the regional administration.
“The demonstration that took place today in Makkah Al-Mukarama Street was not a legal demonstration. If they have a complaint, they should have submitted it to us instead of making a chaotic demonstration. After today, I don’t know who will be responsible for the demonstration. it will be resolved and we met with a committee, demonstrations like this are used by the enemy and we will not accept it to happen,” said Governor Yabooh.
Governor Yabooh’s statement follows today’s demonstration in Mogadishu by some Bajaj drivers who were complaining about the high fees imposed on them.
The increase in the fees for the vendors that led to the demonstration is said to be the license fee which was increased from $200 and they mentioned that it is in addition to the Municipal Tax amounting to $15 per month.
