The Minister of Information of Somalia, Daoud Aweys, said that Somalia insists that it will never give up its previous position of preserving the independence and sovereignty of Somalia.

The minister said that the only way Ethiopia can have access to the sea of ​​Somalia is in accordance with the United Nations ‘UKLAS’ regulations which states that landlocked countries and neighboring countries with seas should enter into agreements with them. then they find a sea passage.

“Ethiopia will not allow anything outside of business in our sea,” said the minister.

The minister said this when the Turkish government said that the meeting between the two countries will end with Ethiopia having access to Somalia’s waters, with the permission of the Somali government.

The Turkish president said that any agreement between Somalia and Ethiopia will not harm the territorial independence of Somalia. He said that his country is trying to resolve the tension between the two through dialogue.

The meeting that opened today in the city of Ankara is expected to be the first meeting where the two countries reach an understanding.
