Some of the parliamentarians of the Warsangali community from the Sanaag region have accused President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of organizing in Mogadishu to divide the unity of the people of Puntland.
The MPs who were speaking in Makhir local language said that the president’s actions are regrettable and embarrassing for the president.
“You who are seventy-five years old today, who have been president twice, to divide a peaceful country and peaceful people. We currently have six MPs from the region, you have divided the six of us. We don’t say hello. This divides the nation,” said one of the parliamentarians who spoke to the press in Mogadishu.
They said Puntland, no matter how they try to divide it, they will never harm it. They said that if the people of Makhir are establishing an administration or consulting, they have peaceful areas where they can hold meetings to discuss their fate.
However, the statement of these MPs comes days after a meeting was held in Mogadishu with politicians, MPs, intellectuals, women and youths representing the Warsangali community, who said that they want to discuss their fate and establish a united government.
