The High Court of Seychelles has scheduled the trial of six people suspected of belonging to Somali pirates in the middle of January 2025.

These men were accused of being involved in a piracy attack that took place in the third month of this year on the Chrystal Arctic ship registered in the Marshall Islands.

The pirates were handed over to the Seychelles authorities on May 14, after they were captured by the European Union ATALANTA mission.

The Seychelles police revealed that the suspects are between 20 and 40 years old, and three of those people were taken to the hospital to deal with the injuries they sustained.

The ATALANTA operation has a legal agreement with Seychelles, so that the pirates caught can be tried in that country. India is also one of the countries that are allowed to prosecute Somali pirates.

Currently, more than 30 pirate prisoners are in Indian jails, awaiting sentencing, after being caught red-handed in piracy crimes.

29 of the pirates were captured on the Reum ship and held hostage by the pirates, but were later forcibly released.
