The Standing Committee of the Somaliland House of Representatives has described the impeachment proceedings against MP Mohamed Abib Yusuf as illegal.

The council met this morning to vote on the impeachment case against MP Abib, but the quorum required for 55 MPs was filled, and 49 MPs attended.

The members of the council who spoke to the media were all against the case against Abib, on the other hand, the chairman of the permanent committee said that they recognized the case as illegal.

“The gentleman cannot be accused, nor can he be accused if he talks about the performance of the government, so the committee assures the honorable members that the proposal to remove MP Mohamed Abib Anay from office is not legal”.

Chairman Faratoon closed today’s session after the quorum was filled, Deputy Chairman Ali Hamud Jibril recently said that they are suspending the proceedings.
