Somaliland said that it will not allow the Turkish Navy, which is expected to come to Somalia’s shores, to cross its shores.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been published on Somaliland’s rejection of the arrival of Turkish troops. The government of Somaliland has said that Turkey cannot bring troops to its shores.
“The government of Somaliland strongly opposes bringing troops to the recognized coasts of Somaliland, which are clearly mentioned in international law and are important for the territorial independence of the Republic of Somaliland,” the statement said.
It is stated in the text that Somaliland is calling on the international community to respect the maritime boundaries. At the same time, discuss any obstacles, and respect the international rules of maritime administration.
“Somaliland is committed to fostering cooperative relations with all nations based on mutual respect and adherence to international norms. We urge all stakeholders to support efforts to maintain peace, security, and stability. the region,” the text said again.
Somaliland said that in the past 20 years, it has protected its seas from pirates, people smuggling, and protects its navy with the help of foreign countries, which regularly inspect its coasts.
The governments of Turkey and Somalia have recently signed an agreement in which the government of Somalia said that Turkish forces will protect its coasts, and both countries will benefit from the maritime resources.
