It is said that around four thousand Ethiopian soldiers have entered parts of Hiran region in the past 48 hours and have gone to Matabaan district.
These heavily armed forces have crossed the border of Hiraan region on foot with the territory of the Somali regional government of Ethiopia, especially Ferfeer district of Hiraan region.
The governor of Matabaan district in Hiraan region, Bashir Shekeeye told the media that the Ethiopian forces met with the leading officials and now they have returned to the border.
The governor said that the Ethiopian troops entered Hiran region because they were being chased by members of the Al-Shabaab group.
The entry of the Ethiopian army into Somalia comes at a time when there is still tension between Somalia and Ethiopia, as a result of the maritime agreement signed by Ethiopia and Somaliland at the beginning of this year.
It is not the first time that Ethiopian troops who are not part of the ATMIS mission have entered Somalia, and in this way many times they have crossed the borders with the regions of Hiran, Bay, Bakool and Gedo.
