Puntland has sent an urgent request to the international friends who support Somalia, by submitting a request for a fair distribution of humanitarian support, development and budget support for Somalia.
Puntland has expressed strong concern that the federal government of Somalia has made a strong policy of aid from international donors, and that budget support should be provided to Puntland banks.
“We have observed a complicated change in the Mogadishu government, which has been using donations for political agendas since I was re-elected. The politicization of projects, programs and budget support of the Puntland government has been going on for the last 18 months. We have raised this issue several times with development banks and donors.” This is what was said in the statement Puntland shared with the international community.
Puntland said that Mogadishu’s real goal is to destabilize Puntland, saying that politicization undermines the most important objective of the development assistance to Somalia.
“Based on this difficult situation, we are asking our friends from both sides and many others to realize the gravity of this situation and help the Puntland government to get help from donors and provide independent budget support. political space in Mogadishu,” said the Puntland press release.
