The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, said that they have prepared the army to replace ATMIS, which is expected to leave the country at the end of this year.
Minister Fartaag said that the government forces are now sufficient to take over the general security of the country, and there is no doubt about it.
“If ATMIS leaves the country, the replacement forces are ready, and there is no concern that our security will take over. We are ready. The various national forces and our heroes are ready to cooperate in the overall security of the country when ATMIS leaves.” said Somalia’s Internal Security Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartag.
He also told the Minister of Security that the ATMIS forces have already left some of the regions of Hiraan, Middle Shabelle, Lower Shabelle, Bay, Bakool and Jubbaland, while those areas are under the control of government forces.
“Atmis, the areas under their control included the security of the country’s presidency, which they have left for several decades, and the security of the top leaders of the country and the presidency in general is under the control of the national army, as well as everywhere the army leaves. We have prepared for him to take over,” said Minister Fartaag.
This statement by the Minister of Security of Somalia coincides with the fact that within the next month it is expected that 4000 of the ATMIS forces will leave the country, and by the end of this year the plan is for ATMIS to leave the country as a whole.
