African Union President Election Process Revealed.

The African Union has announced the process of electing the top leadership of the African Union, calling on interested candidates to submit their biographies along with statements showing how they intend to advance the African Union’s change agenda.

The election will take place in February 2025 during the African Union Summit.

The African Union has said that all 8 senior leadership positions in the African Union Commission are open to all candidates.

Countries in East Africa, of which Somalia is a part, will submit men and women who are standing for the post of Chairman of the African Union.

North African countries will submit both men and women who stand for the position of vice president.

While the countries of Central, South, and West Africa are submitting at least two candidates as part of the six divisions of the commission.

For the first time, Somalia will compete for the position of the chairman of the African Union, and the former minister of foreign affairs of Somalia, Fowsiyo Haji Adam, has been nominated for that position.

Somalia, which has good support from nearly 30 African countries in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, has good hopes of succeeding in the leadership of the African Union.
