The former president of Somalia, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, has accused President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of engaging in power manipulation to pave the way for a period of growth and elections under his sole control.

Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, the leader of Himilo Qaran party, in a press release issued by his party, said that the country cannot hold an incomplete election, warning the president of Somalia to lead the country to political crisis.

The Sharif called for the political stakeholders to agree on the fate of the country, and also for the government to stop interfering in the upcoming state elections.

The leader of the Himilo Qaran party said that the government needs to take responsibility for finding a solution to the conflict and division that resulted from the process of finalizing the country’s constitution.

Also, he said that the government did not pay attention to the imminent threat of the maritime agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia and the security transition situation after the withdrawal of ATMIS.
