The National Security Adviser to the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hussein Macalin, has given a further explanation of the security measures taken by the government of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

“The leaders of al-Shabaab are now going through a stage where they are thinking of fleeing the country or surrendering, that is something that the government has led with the help of its people,” said Counselor Hussein Macalin.
Regarding the official losses caused to the Al-Shabaab group, Hussein Macalin said that thousands were killed in the war with the government, although it is difficult to record the exact number of the losses of the group.
Hussein Maalin also said that the government has succeeded in increasing the country’s armed forces in terms of quantity and quality, and it has also succeeded in lifting the arms embargo on the country for more than 30 years.
