The Ethiopian government has trained units of its Ethiopian navy who have been taught skills related to firefighting on ships.

The representative of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ethiopian Navy, Rear Admiral Nasir Abadga, told the soldiers who have been trained that it is their duty to prevent anything against maritime security.

Although Ethiopia is still a landlocked country, it has been organizing its navy for the past five years.

In June last year, Ethiopia graduated several members of the navy who were trained in various skills.

Ethiopia signed a maritime agreement with Somaliland in January of this year. The agreement allows Ethiopia to use 20 km of Somaliland waters, while Ethiopia said it will give Somaliland international recognition.

The government of Somalia strongly opposed this agreement, describing it as a violation of the territorial independence and unity of Somalia. After that, the government reduced diplomatic relations with Ethiopia.
