The MV Abdullah ship belonging to Bangladesh with 23 sailors was released from the Somali pirate group.
The sailors and the ship were released after a ransom was dropped from a helicopter, according to news sources.
However, the amount of the ransom was not immediately known. However, there are reports that the pirates took a million ransom.
Some of the pirates have fled to the coast, while the Puntland government forces are conducting operations to arrest the pirates.
It is the first ship to be held for ransom by pirates three months after the piracy began off the coast.
The released ship was carrying coal to the UAE and was hijacked on March 23.
There is concern that this incident could fuel the renewed piracy off the coast of Somalia.
