The commander of the Somali National Army, Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuddin, has announced that they are resuming operations to rid the country of Al-Shabaab.

He said that the Somali Federal Government forces, regional governments and local residents are resuming operations against the group which has been suspended during the holy month of Ramadan.

“The national forces were on the defensive during Ramadan and strengthened the security of the areas they had previously captured from the Khawarij enemies, but from now on, the fighting will resume,” said the Commander of the Armed Forces, General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuddin.

The commander also called on Somali people not to give money to the group that they call Sakawad so that the group’s power will be reduced and they will not get money to buy weapons.

This statement by the Commander of the Somali Armed Forces is coming, as in recent times there has been a lot of talk about the reasons for stopping the operations against Al-Shabaab in the past year which were going on rapidly in most of the regions of the country.
