The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has confirmed that he is going on a trip to Ethiopia which is currently in a crisis between Somalia and Somalia due to the maritime agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland.
President Hassan Sheikh said he will attend the African Union summit in Addis Ababa, and other meetings of IGAD and EAC.
The President said that he will send the message to the meetings that the independence and sovereignty of the Somali country should not be violated.
He said that Somalia has a strong position on the agreement that Ethiopia wants to take part of Somalia’s sea.
“The issue of Ethiopia that has been moving these days is still its position in our place. And it is a position that is difficult to give up to be invisible. Entering our country is an impossible dream, we have already told you. We are sharing that message with the world,” said the president.
The president said this in Kismayo, where he visited yesterday.
However, senior diplomats from the United States and the African Union are trying to talk to the president of Somalia and the prime minister of Ethiopia in order to find a solution to the maritime crisis.
