The acting Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Somalia Ali Balcad and a large delegation led by him participated in various meetings in the city of Addis Ababa as a preliminary to the annual general meeting of the African Union.
An important part of the meeting was the meeting of the committee in charge of the regulation and planning of the various positions in the African Union, which is contested by the leaders and African countries, which is currently led by the Federal Government of Somalia.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Somalia to Ethiopia, Abdullahi Mohamed Warfaa, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and diplomats from the Somali Embassy in Ethiopia.
The committee discussed with the leaders of the African Union countries and introduced the African countries and leaders who are competing for many positions this year where there is strong competition in some African countries including Somalia.
The committee meeting chaired by Somalia specifically discussed the effort and competition of the Federal Republic of Somalia to win and lead the Security and Safety Committee of the African Union for the years 2025-2026.
