Members of the Federal Parliament of Somalia who spoke to the media today in Mogadishu said that the High Commission has submitted a motion against security agreements that they said the government entered into with Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates.

The MPs demanded that the motion be brought before the council to hold the government accountable for the secret agreements it entered into.

Faisa Jeyte, one of the members of the People’s Assembly of the Somali Parliament, who spoke to the media, denied that the motion was withdrawn. She said that the committee is waiting for information.

“Parliament is very concerned about the content and overall structure of the agreements signed with the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Turkey, Sudan and Uganda. The People’s Assembly expressed concern about the agreements signed by the government. passed the Parliament” said Faisa Jeyte.

The MPs called on the Prime Minister of the Somali Government, Hamse Abdi Barre, to quickly present the agreements to the Somali Parliament.

“We are urgently instructing the Federal Government of Somalia to immediately present to the People’s Assembly all the agreements it entered into secretly,” said the statement of the MPs.
