The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, ruled out any dialogue between the government and Al-Shabaab.
President Hassan Sheikh declared that the Somali government is committed to eliminating Al-Shabaab through war, instead of engaging in dialogue with them.
The president said that the government has achieved great success in the war against Al-Shabaab and has liberated a lot of land from which the government has now carried out national stabilization.
“In order to stand as stable, we have two important roles to attract international action. We need to liberate the country from Al-Shabaab. International friends can provide you with resources such as food, weapons, and fuel but They will not give us frontline troops,” said the President.
Hassan Sheikh said that when the government started fighting al-Shabaab on its own, it liberated more than 80 areas.
The president also said that the government has blocked and cut off Al-Shabaab’s economic activities.
