The Somali forces, especially the Eagle commandos based in Harardhere district of Mudug region, surrendered to a leader of the Al-Shabaab group.
The leader who surrendered was named Abdirahman Hiiti Ibrahim, (Abu Abdirahman) who is one of the leaders of the group in charge of Nurdugle and Gulane areas in the Middle Shabelle region.
“Foreigner Abdirahman said that there is a difficult situation within the enemy, which is Gumad and Gumaysi who are fighting each other,” said a news release from the country’s military command.
The leader, who did not disclose the department he is in charge of, indicated that he has been a member of Al-Shabaab for 7 years.
The surrender of the leader of the Al-Shabaab organization coincides with the recent increase in the number of Al-Shabab members surrendering to the Somali government forces.
