The World Food Agency (WFP) on Tuesday called for the creation of safe routes for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which can be used by its workers and aid workers.

In a statement issued by the WFP, they said that they have started an emergency operation to deliver food to more than 80,000 people living in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, who currently do not have basic services, such as food and water.

WFP added that they have distributed ready meals, which they have delivered to about 73,000 people living in the Gaza Strip.

The WFP said it is concerned about the food shortage situation in Gaza, as there is now a shortage of food in commercial businesses, after Israel announced a total blockade of the area.

Israel said it was taking this step in response to Saturday’s attack.

All borders and crossings between Gaza and Israel are closed, which the WFP says has increased restrictions on humanitarian aid.
