The Puntland Electoral Commission has announced the names of eight political organizations, which have been officially recognized as political parties.
This action taken by the election commission followed changes made in the constitution of Puntland, in order to expand the number of parties.
The Election Commission said it has approved these parties and will soon give them recognition certificates.
Some of the organizations that are recognized as parties do not participate in any elections. Some of them are against it and refused to participate in the election.
However, the electoral commission intends for these parties to participate in the remaining elections for the local councils, the parliament and the presidency.
Although the opposition politicians have opposed this plan, saying that President Deni wants to seat parties, and then they should do it for a two-year extension.
