The security advisors of Somalia and Kenya discussed strengthening regional security.

Kenyan President William Ruto’s security adviser, Monica Juma, met with her Somali counterpart, Hussein Macalin Mohamud.

The meeting was where the officials discussed how the two governments could participate in strengthening the strategic relationship between the two countries.

According to MS Monica, a former Kenyan defense secretary, the meeting focused on the development of the region and the impact of international changes on national and regional security.

Attacks against Al-Shabaab and border security were also widely discussed at the meeting.

Ms Monica praised the achievements of the Somali government in the war against terrorism which led to the removal of the Al-Shabaab group from a large area.

She underlined that the Kenyan government is committed to continue its tireless efforts to help Somalia in various areas including the fight against Al-Shabaab.

The National Security Adviser to the President of Somalia, Hussein Ali Mohamud, for his part, underlined that the Somali government wants to strengthen cooperation between the two sides.

Kenya and Somalia have shared diplomatic and historical bilateral relations for years, and it is expected that the meeting will contribute greatly to the cooperation of both sides.
