Somalia has taken over the rotating chairmanship of the Office of the Superintendent of the African Union Mission to the United Nations.
The Ambassador to Somalia at the United Nations, Amb. Abukar Baalle, who will hold this position, will deliver the observer speech at the UN headquarters.
This office’s job is to work in general with the views and interests of the delegations of the African Union countries at the UN.
The function of the Permanent Mission of the African Union to the United Nations is to coordinate diplomatic relations with the Permanent Mission of Africa to the United Nations.
He also represents the African Union at the United Nations as well as developing and maintaining effective relations between the AU.
Ambassador Baale will take over from Amb. Fatima Kyari Mohammed who was the Permanent Observer of the African Union to the United Nations.
