The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, attended the annual meeting of the African Development Bank (AFDB) today in the city of Sharma el-Sheikh.
The summit, which focuses on climate action and mobilizing private sector financing for green growth, aims to set a sustainable development plan for Africa as a whole.
Leaders from across the continent and beyond have come together to pool resources and drive development for a sustainable future.
All the leaders who spoke there emphasized the need for sustainable climate change and adaptation funding and for efficient use of resources.
The themes of the AFDB conference will be centered on encouraging the private sector to finance climate and green projects in Africa, according to the AfDB.
AfDB Acting Chief Economist and Vice President Kevin Urama revealed that Africa needs about $145.5 billion annually until 2030 to close the annual climate finance gap.
