The former presidents of Somalia, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, released a joint press release that strongly criticized the president of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The two presidents said in the press conference that their efforts to end the conflict between President Hassan Sheikh and Puntland President Saeed Deni have failed.

“It seems to us that the President has deviated from what he promised, which may lead to the country entering into a solution of division and conflict,” said the newspaper.

The two presidents accused President Hassan Sheikh of taking a step that destroyed the talks and said that the promise was to suspend the activities related to the revision of the constitution for two weeks, while the president continued with the plan to amend the constitution.

It was also stated in the press release of the former presidents that the president of the federal government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is responsible for everything that causes separation.

“Our country is now at a difficult crossroads where our territorial integrity and independence are at risk. The only way to overcome it is through consultation, consensus and compromise,” said the press release of the two presidents.

This news from the former presidents Sheikh Sharif and Farmajo comes at the same time as the conflict between the federal government and the Puntland administration has been going on for a long time, and the government is currently working on amending the Constitution.
