The IGAD regional organization has appointed the former president of the Hirshabelle administration as the deputy secretary general of the IGAD regional organization.
The proposal for the appointment of the Deputy Secretary General of IGAD was submitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti, which is a meeting of the IGAD Cabinet.
The move to appoint Mohamed Abdi Waare as the deputy executive secretary of IGAD will raise the status of Somalia in the region and the world.
The Minister of Information of Somalia, Daoud Aweys, described the appointment of the IGAD deputy as Ambassador Mohamed Abdi Waare as a great success, and he said,
“A great victory for Somalia, the appointment of Mohamed Abdi Waare as the deputy executive secretary of IGAD will increase the influence of Somalia in the region and the world, which shows an important diplomatic victory for the federal government.”
The Deputy Secretary General of IGAD, Mohamed Abdi Waare said he is happy to join the leadership of IGAD.
“I am very happy with the nomination, lobbying, and support of my Government to achieve this prestigious position. Currently working throughout the State. I hope to lead a team that will strive to make a difference in the lives of our citizens in terms of Peace and Security, Climate Mitigation, the Region,” said Waare.
Waare’s appointment coincided with the IGAD regional conference in Djibouti, where the president of Somalia is.
Amendments were made to the structure of IGAD, Somalia was allowed to join the senior leadership of IGAD.
