The Puntland Parliament disagrees with the implementation of the Puntland Elections Amendment Act, which was recently submitted to the Parliament by the PEC Election Committee.
A number of parliamentarians who were assigned to advise on this law, submitted a proposal to the parliamentary committee to postpone this law, and they said that its passage could lead to conflicts.
Reliable reports that we have received say that the speaker of the Puntland parliament, Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril, who is pushing for this law to be passed by the parliament, has rejected the recommendation from the committee.
Reliable sources say that the governor has dissolved this committee, as he is going to appoint another committee to work on this law.
The committee that was transferred from this law, met with the community last night and told them that the parliament will not take any action that could cause security instability.
On the other hand, the committees tasked with resolving the election dispute have met with the opposition politicians, working to bring the parties together to discuss.
These members have now succeeded in realizing their call for peace, which was to control the forces and not fire.
