The President of Puntland Saeed Deni has opposed the call from Puntland, who said that elections cannot be held by people and votes, suggesting to go back to the tribal system.

In a press release from the council, it was said that Puntland is listening to the suggestions that support the fruition of the democratic process and the elections that are meant for one person and one vote.

The Presidency said that last night the Cabinet of Ministers approved changes to the election rules, which it said will soon be submitted to the House of Representatives.

President Deni said that it is determined that the people will vote for the House of Representatives, the President and the Vice President, in accordance with the period set by the Electoral Commission for the election.

However, the opposition welcomed the statement issued last night, seeing their advice as the only way Puntland can overcome the critical stage it is currently in.

It is feared that Deni and the opposition will lead Puntland to a bloody political crisis.
