The new chairman elected this morning by the House of Representatives of Somaliland Prof. Yasin Mohamud Hiir Faratoon will be welcomed to the presidency of Somaliland.
The ceremony was attended by ministers, the chairman of the senate, parliamentarians, famous people, leaders of the Kulmiye party, officials from the new organizations and the president of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi.
The president-elect who spoke at the ceremony organized by the government said that he will deal with many difficult situations in Somaliland at the moment.
“We will talk about the delegations at the right time. There are difficult tasks in the country that we need to do something about. Thank you very much to those who elected me and those who did not elect me. The mission is one that will affect us,” said Prof. Faraton.
President Bihi also welcomed the party chairman and thanked the MPs who elected him, and described the Faratoon election as one that will contribute to the current situation in Lasaanood.
“You have sent a vote of peace today, you have sent a vote of unity, you have sent a delegate to the people of Sool, you have sent a vote to resolve the conflict, we interpret today’s vote as such and thank you,” said President Bihi.
Also, all the different officials who spoke on the scene welcomed Faratoon’s choice, and wished him good luck and may God bless him.
Prof. Faratoon replaces the resigned chairman of the House of Representatives, Abdirisaaq Khalif Ahmed, who left the post because of the ongoing war in Lasan, and supported the war against Somaliland.
