Friends of the international community in Somalia have issued an urgent call to demand an end to the conflict in Garowe, the capital of Puntland, between forces loyal to the Puntland president and opposition politicians.

The press release from the international community called on the warring parties to end everything at the negotiating table.

“Friends of the international community are concerned about the ongoing fighting in Garowe and its impact on civilians.

Friends are calling for an immediate de-escalation of the tension and the restoration of stability. We call on all political stakeholders to have a dialogue, which is the only way to resolve the differences,” said the press release from the friends of the international community.

The international community has also said that the current political crisis in Garowe is threatening the good results achieved in the recent local council elections in Puntland.

However, the war that took place in Garowe has so far confirmed the death of 26 people, 6 of which are soldiers and 10 civilians, while the injuries are about 30 people.

Finally, the news coming from Garowe says that Isimada, intellectuals and members of parliament at the federal level have succeeded in establishing a ceasefire between the two warring forces, who have accepted the ceasefire.
