The Puntland police chief, Major General Muumin Abdi Shire, said that they have defeated a group he described as armed enemies that attacked the Puntland parliament building, which was in the process of implementing the constitution.
The commander said that they managed to expel the attacking group from Garowe city, saying that they gathered them in the places where they organized the fight.
Commander Mu’min admitted that there was a sixth casualty as a result of the war. He said that whoever was involved in the fight will be pursued and arrested.
“We are defending the government and order. We are protecting the security of the capital, which is the most important place in Puntland”, said Commander Muumin.
The commander said that the warring party had rejected any solution. He said it was a shame to fight in Garowe, but he said they had to defend the government.
However, today’s war has taken a heavy toll in casualties. It was said that more than 20 people died in the war that took place in Garowe today.
The fighting that started in the middle of today stopped in the afternoon. However, the same afternoon it exploded again outside the city, stopping this evening.
