The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, attended the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit that opened today in Belgrade, Serbia.
In his speech, President Hassan Sheikh presented the security, political and economic challenges facing the world, emphasizing the importance of strengthening international cooperation and solidarity.
The President said that conflicts, terrorism, geopolitical tensions and climate change are some of the major challenges facing the world today, which require cooperation and joint solutions.
Hassan Sheikh briefed the conference on the progress of Somalia and the federal government’s efforts towards stability, rebuilding state institutions and developing the country.
He thanked the international community for their continued support for Somalia, saying that international cooperation is essential for the country’s efforts to build lasting peace and stability.
The Somali President also affirmed Somalia’s commitment to the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement, particularly the preservation of national sovereignty, territorial integrity, justice and equality.
He also stressed the importance of seeking peaceful solutions to international disputes, while respecting sovereignty and international law.
The Belgrade Conference brings together countries belonging to the Non-Aligned Movement, with the agenda of the meeting focusing on the global situation, cooperation between countries and current security, political and economic challenges.
