The Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education of the Federal Government of Somalia has announced the results of the Grade 12 National Examination for the 2025/2026 school year, with more than 40 thousand students passing the exam.
The results announced by the Ministry show that 42,916 students sat for the exam, of which 40,037 students passed, while 2,879 students failed.
The students who took the top positions are: 1st Place: Mohamed Ciise Daahir Yusuf, who received 94.14%, from Howl-Wadaag School in Banadir Region, 2nd Place: Farhiya Farah Omar Cigaal came in, and 3rd Place was Amina Khalid Abdalla.
Somali Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre has pledged that the Somali government will cover all educational expenses of the three top-ranked students in the country’s secondary school leaving examination.
The Prime Minister spoke to the three top-ranked students and their parents by phone, congratulating them on their success.
Hamsa Abdi Barre also praised the students’ efforts, the support of their parents, and the role of teachers and the education sector, saying that the students’ success was the result of cooperation and joint efforts.
“I congratulate the teachers, parents, and the Somali people in general, especially the education sector in the country,” the Prime Minister said.
He said that education is the pillar of social change, and when people are educated, Somalia moves closer to development and positive change.
The Prime Minister said that the Somali government is committed to reducing the number of Somali children of school age who do not have the opportunity to go to school.
The government’s promise to fund the education of the three top-ranked students is one of the measures to encourage Somali students and the effort to improve education in the country..
